Northboro, Mass. September 9, 2008 - Seeking to provide a more convenient and accessible alternative to traditional training methods, the North Carolina Office of the State Auditor (OSA) will begin use of eLearning software developed by IntraLearn Software Corporation. The OSA serves the citizens of North Carolina by detecting fraud, waste, and abuse to ensure that state tax dollars are properly spent.
A governmental agency, the North Carolina Office of the State Auditor is in the midst of developing an eLearning program that is conducive to the auditor's profile of learning. Most auditors are out in the "field" and need a training program that conforms to their needs. Using LearningServer as the platform to deliver these programs, the OSA is pushing the agency into a much needed 21st century era of training technology.
The majority of learners will be comprised of individuals traveling throughout the state to conduct financial reviews (audits) on major university systems, community college systems, and other governmental agencies. With these individuals located on various audit sites from month to month, it is invaluable to have a program in place that is complimentary to an auditor's personal schedule.
"There is a dire need for the time-on-task to be increased in the training environment," said Cheryl Baggett, Architect - MIS for the OSA. "In order to cut down on travel costs, it is a must to have a training program in place that is both convenient and conducive to an auditor's schedule."
LearningServer offers the ability to rapidly create courses by assembling various files, from a variety of programs such as PowerPoint - which is what many audit instructors use, into a SCORM format. The system also provides an array of assessment tools, such as the exam tool - used to create and attach exams to LearningServer assembled lessons or 3rd party SCORM / AICC courses. Integrated with Microsoft SharePoint, LearningServer provides an experience that is intuitive and straightforward for system managers, course developers, and Learners.
The Office of the State Auditor (OSA) serves as the watchdog for State government by providing citizens, legislators, and government officials with professional, independent evaluations of the State's financial records and public program performance. The State Auditor also assesses the security and integrity of the State's information technology systems, as well as providing monitoring and technical assistance for private non-profit recipients of State grant funds. The OSA is uniquely empowered to independently evaluate State programs and provide guidance to the legislature on the operation of all aspects of state government, clerks of court, the University System and community colleges.
